Tandem flights · Vorarlberg, Austria

Fly

Your tandem paragliding flight over Vorarlberg.

A few running steps, then the wing carries you. Below you the Rhine valley and the Walgau, all around the mountains of Vorarlberg – and behind you a pilot who has flown since 2009, logs every cross-country flight publicly and only takes off in safe weather. You enjoy. Markus flies.

  • Licensed tandem pilot (ÖAeC)
  • No experience needed
  • EUR 5 million passenger liability
  • From 8 years, 40–130 kg
  • Dates by arrangement, also short notice
Tandem take-off on a meadow: the wing is up, pilot and passenger run forward – forest and blue sky behind them.

Take-off – every flight starts with a few running steps.

Why fly with Markus

No conveyor belt. One pilot, one guest, one good flight.

You fly with the owner

No rotating pilots, no queue at the launch site. Markus takes his time – for the briefing, your questions and the moment after landing.

Cross-country pilot

Flying long distances over Vorarlberg means reading weather, wind and thermals for hours. Every flight is public on XContest – see the logbook (German).

Honest about the weather

We fly when it is safe, not because a date is in the calendar. Rescheduling is always free.

Home mountains

Launch sites in the Walgau and Rhine valley that Markus has known for years. Easy to reach from Feldkirch, Bludenz, Dornbirn, Bregenz, Lake Constance, Liechtenstein and eastern Switzerland.

How it works

From meeting point to landing.

No course, no exam – an experience with a clear routine. You don't need any skills, just join in.

  1. Request & date

Write or call, we find a date. One or two days before, we check the weather together.

  2. Meeting point

We meet in the valley at the cable car or the car park – depending on the launch site (Schnifis, Furx or Ludescher Berg); the exact spot comes with your confirmation. Up by cable car or car.

  3. Briefing

Harness on, helmet on, practise the launch: run, run, sit. Five minutes and you're ready.

  4. The flight

A few steps and the wing carries you. Calm gliding or – if you like – a few turns with more action. You set the pace.

  5. Landing

Gently onto the meadow, a few steps to run out. Usually with a big grin. The whole outing takes about an hour and a half.

After landing: pilot and passenger stand laughing on the meadow, arms spread wide.

Landed. The joy is real.

FAQ

What guests ask before their first flight.

Do I need any experience or fitness?

No. You get a short briefing before take-off: a few running steps at launch, sit back and relax in the air, a few steps on landing. If you can walk up a flight of stairs, you can fly tandem. The pilot does everything else.

I'm afraid of heights – can I still fly?

Usually yes. Fear of heights comes from the connection to the ground – in the air that connection is gone, and you sit calmly in the harness like in an armchair. Tell us beforehand and we plan an especially smooth flight.

What if the weather is bad?

We only fly in safe conditions – that is not negotiable. If the weather doesn't cooperate we simply reschedule, free of charge. That's why a bit of flexibility and your phone number help.

Are there age or weight limits?

Passengers from 8 years – children and teenagers with parental consent – and between 40 and 130 kg body weight. There is no upper age limit: what counts is that you can take a few running steps, not your birth year.

How much does a tandem flight cost?

Scenic flights cost EUR 150 to 250 depending on flight time, thermal flights EUR 200 to 250, photos and video by the pilot EUR 30 – all final prices per person including briefing, equipment and insurance. The ride up to the launch site (cable car or car) is extra. No charge if we cancel because of the weather. Details under flight types & prices.

Where do we launch and meet?

We mostly fly in the Walgau and around Rankweil: launch sites Schnifis, Furx and Ludescher Berg. Depending on the site we meet at the cable car or at the car park in the valley – the exact spot comes with your confirmation – and go up by cable car or car.

What should I wear and bring?

Sturdy shoes with grip, long trousers, a windproof jacket – it's cooler up there than in the valley – and sunglasses. Helmet and harness are provided. No loose scarves, please.

How long does a flight take?

Depending on the flight you book, about 15 to 45 minutes in the air: a scenic flight starts at around 15 minutes, a thermal flight lasts 15 to 45 minutes – in good thermals we stay up longer, weather and lift decide. Including meeting point, ride up, briefing and landing, plan for about an hour and a half.

Can I take photos or film myself?

Yes – with a phone on a lanyard or an action camera. Everything you bring must be secured. If you'd rather keep your hands free, the pilot records the flight for you (see flight types).

Can I give a flight as a gift?

Yes. Tick “give as a gift” in the request form and tell us the occasion – or just call. Once payment has arrived you receive the voucher as a PDF to download and print. Vouchers are valid for one year; the flight date is then arranged directly with the recipient.

Is the flight insured?

Yes. Commercial tandem flights are covered by aviation and passenger liability insurance with EUR 5 million coverage (R+V Allgemeine Versicherung via AIR&MORE). The pilot holds the Austrian tandem licence (ÖAeC) and the trade licence for passenger flights.
